Educational Institutions
Bracewell & Giuliani represents a broad range of educational institutions across the country. In Texas alone, we represent clients with a combined student population larger than that represented by any other law firm in the state. These clients include more than 100 school districts, junior colleges, and private schools. We work with boards of education, superintendents, trustees and senior administrators, advising them on a wide variety of operational and policy concerns. We also provide legal guidance to in-house and general counsel at educational institutions.
We advise clients on:
- Business issues, including bidding and contracts, real estate purchases and condemnations, contract negotiations, and public finance
- Constitutional issues, including free speech, religion in schools, right to privacy, civil rights, and desegregation
- Educational issues, including student discipline, special education, policy development, and school board governance
- Employment issues, including employee contracts, termination, grievances, employment benefits, and nepotism
- Public policy issues, including election law, environmental compliance, open government and public information.
