Ryan represents clients in a wide variety of transactions in the electric power and oil and gas industries. He negotiates and documents acquisitions and divestitures of assets and companies, financial transactions and commodity hedge transactions for utilities, private equity investors, financial institutions and commodity trading businesses. Ryan has been nationally ranked in 2010 and 2011 Chambers USA in Projects. Ryan's experience includes representing a strategic purchaser in the acquisition of several gas-fired power plants, the representation of a publicly traded energy company in the sale of its interest in an energy trading joint venture, representation of a utility in the disposition of its Texas retail electric business, and representation of a publically traded energy company in the acquisition of a Texas electric retail provider.
Representative Matters
Represented a publically traded utility in the acquisition of a 789 MW gas-fired electric generation facility in Louisiana.
Represented a private equity company in the purchase of an equity interest in a 1,022 MW gas-fired electric generation facility in California.
Represented two financial institutions in the purchase of a $1.1 billion volumetric production payment on Appalachian oil and gas properties and the related syndication thereof.
Represented a group of hedge funds and financial institutions in the purchase of a dollar denominated production payment on offshore Gulf of Mexico oil and gas properties.
Represented a financial institution in a structured trading arrangement with a retail electric company to provide a credit sleeve for the retail electric company's wholesale power and gas transactions.
Represented a publicly traded utility in the disposition of its Texas electric retail business.
