Phillip Sampson is a Trial partner practicing out of the firm’s Houston office. He has extensive experience trying cases for both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts, as well as before arbitration panels. Phillip has twice been recognized in VerdictSearch's "Top Texas Verdicts" for jury verdicts he obtained in 2009 and 2010. He has also been recognized in US Legal 500. Phillips's litigation experience and jury verdict successes have involved both personal injury and commercial matters, and he has also successfully handled a number of appeals at the state and federal level. He represents clients in a diverse range of industries and matters, with a focus on complex commercial litigation and mass tort.

Phillip is currently trial counsel for plaintiffs in litigation involving the prescription drugs Depakote, Actos, and Plavix and the medical device Medtronic Infuse. He has also  prosecuted and defended cases involving complex contract and payment issues, trade secret and intellectual property rights, fraud, construction and products liability, real estate and landlord/tenant issues, securities fraud, defamation, employment claims, insurance claims, and personal injury.

Represented plaintiffs in Serzone MDL 1477 (in the U.S. Dist. Ct. for the Southern District of West Virginia).

Represented construction product manufacturer in state court jury trial involving fraud, deceptive trade practices act violations, warranty, and breach of contract.

Represented yacht owner in state court jury trial involving fraud, deceptive trade practices act violations, warranty, and breach of contract.

Represented steel company in state court jury trial involving breach of contract, negligence, and gross negligence.

Represented steel company in arbitration involving payment disputes over defective products.

Successfully tried several personal injury cases to jury verdict.

Represented steel company in federal court jury trial involving defective computer software.

Represented banking industry client in two state court jury trials involving defalcation claims.

Represented trust company in state court jury trial involving contract and fiduciary duty claims.

Represented banking industry client in state court bench trial involving an alleged pretended sale.

Represented individual clients in state court jury trial involving guardianship for a family member.

Obtained numerous TROs and TIs for clients in matters ranging from trade secret misappropriation, to interference with land use rights, to fraudulent transfer of assets.

Represented client in the electronic payment systems industry in patent infringement case.

Meditrust Financial Services Corp. v. Sterling Chemicals Inc., 5th Cir., 1999. Represented self-insured employer in ERISA case; upheld favorable judgment on appeal.

Costello v. Corbett Personnel Services Inc., Houston, 1996, writ denied. Successfully handled appeal of favorable judgment for client in personnel services industry in malicious prosecution case.
