Josh Tucker is an associate in Bracewell & Giuliani's intellectual property group. He works with inventors throughout the patent process including investigations, application preparation and filings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Josh counsels clients in a wide range of technical areas including software for geolocation, distributed computing, wireless protocols, network security, image processing, and enterprise resource planning. He also has experience with patents relating to medical devices, oilfield equipment, power electronics, and semiconductor device architecture and packaging. Josh's patent drafting and prosecution experience comes from several years of litigating patents, both on behalf of the patentee and the accused party, including proceedings before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and patent litigation in Federal District Court, as well as experience analyzing patent portfolios on behalf of investors and patent licensors.
Before his legal career, Josh was a semiconductor process engineer for a large semiconductor manufacturer. His work included transferring processes between factories, analyzing stochastic data feeds from ongoing processes, and developing data visualization software and image-analysis software for monitoring manufacturing processes.

Data Detection Systems, LLC v. BMC Software, Inc. Assisted with discovery in patent litigation involving network management software on behalf of BMC Software (Southern District of Texas)
Cooper Notification v. Twitter, Inc., Everbridge, Inc. et al. Assisted with discovery for provider of notification messaging system in defending against claims of patent infringement (District of Delaware)
OLA v. Builder Homesite, Inc., New Home Technologies LLC, et al. – Assisted with mediation for providers of application services for the homebuilding industry against claims of patent infringement, theft of trade secrets, antitrust, and related claims (Eastern District of Texas)
