Jim Caldwell is an associate in the firm's Houston office. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including life, health, and disability insurance litigation, intellectual property litigation, financial services litigation, class actions, securities fraud, construction law, business torts, and international dispute resolution.
Mr. Caldwell represents insurance and financial services companies in a variety of cases, including life insurance fraud, bad faith, denial of coverage, unfair settlement practices, corporate owned life insurance, stranger and investor owned life insurance, class actions, and credit life and disability litigation. Mr. Caldwell also represents an exterior cladding manufacturer in product defect and construction cases across Texas.
Mr. Caldwell has significant litigation and arbitration experience in both state and federal court. He is admitted to practice in the State of Texas and the United States District Court for the Southern, Northern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas. Mr. Caldwell maintains a national practice, representing financial services and insurance companies in multiple states including California, New Jersey, New York, Florida, South Carolina and Texas.

Seneca Petroleum Co. v. Trifinery Petroleum Services: represented defendant in lawsuit arising out of letter of credit agreements and asphalt supply contract;
Celanese Ltd. v. Old World Industries: represented defendant in lawsuit arising out of letter of credit agreements and asphalt supply contract;
Coastal Towing v. Trifinery, Inc.: represented defendant in lawsuit arising out of contracts for barge services;
Murphy v. Trifinery, Inc.: represented defendant/counter plaintiff in arbitration of breach of contract and fiduciary duty claim;
Trifinery Petroleum Services v. Eagle Asphalt Products: represented plaintiff in arbitration of breach of asphalt supply contract claims;
Enron v. Black & Veatch: represented plaintiff in arbitration of construction and delay claims arising out of power plant project.
