Glenn Ballard is head of the firm's trial section. Mr. Ballard's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation with emphasis on intellectual property, real estate, banking, and energy disputes.

Mr. Ballard has practiced law in Texas since 1981 and is a resident in Bracewell & Giuliani's Houston office. Mr. Ballard has tried cases at every level in state and federal courts. He has handled cases on both sides of the docket. His recent verdicts include a plaintiffs' patent infringement verdict against three defendants in Houston federal court (with a fourth defendant settling for nine figures after the opening statement), a verdict on the plaintiff's side of eight figures in a products liability case (Dallas County state court) and a take-nothing judgment on the defense side against a nine-figure claim in a trade secrets case (Harris County state court). He has also handled numerous arbitrations, recently winning an arbitration award in the high eight figures which was appealed to the Supreme Court of Texas and affirmed.

Representative clients include Baker Hughes Incorporated, Waste Management Inc., Fry's Electronics Inc., Weingarten Realty Investors, Northern Trust Bank, GE Oil & Gas, and Tesco Corporation. Mr. Ballard also has argued in more than half of the state's appellate courts and in the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth Circuit, Eleventh Circuit and Federal Circuit.

Mr. Ballard has been voted by his peers as one of Texas' Super Lawyers every year since that distinction began in 2003, and he also has been voted as one of the Top 100 Houston lawyers. He is an Associate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and is board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He holds the top rating in Martindale Hubbell, 5.0 out of 5 (i.e., AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating).

Mr. Ballard is heavily involved not only with litigation, but also with the bar and the judiciary. He served as president of the Houston Bar Association, 2006 to 2007. In addition, he has served as Chair of the Houston Bar Association Litigation Section from 1998 to 1999, and has co-chaired numerous bench bar conferences on both the state and federal levels. He has also chaired the Houston Volunteer Lawyer's Program which provides services to the indigent in Harris County, and the Dispute Resolution Center which provides free mediation services in Houston.
