Frank V. Maisano
Senior Principal
Frank Maisano is a skilled media specialist with a track record of success in working with media outlets across the country. National Journal calls his impact profound, saying "people on all sides of the debate say that he has fundamentally changed the public discourse about energy in both the mainstream and Beltway media." He has outstanding relationships with most national and trade business, energy and environmental reporters, and communicates with them regularly through his widely-read, weekly energy updates.
Mr. Maisano joined Bracewell & Giuliani in 2003 after 15 years as a press secretary on Capitol Hill and as a professional media consultant specializing in energy and environment issues. He is a founder of the firm's strategic communications practice and represents wind developers, utilities, oil & gas drillers, refiners, cement companies, transmission builders and chemical manufacturers on the strategic communications aspects of an array of policy, political, legal and energy project siting issues. Mr. Maisano is also an expert in crisis management for corporations and institutions, having worked in many different arenas, including the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill for a number of clients.
Currently, Mr. Maisano is an adjunct professor at The George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs where he teaches public relations and government communications courses. He previously taught corporate communications and negotiations/bargaining in the MBA and graduate marketing programs at Johns Hopkins University's Carey Business School. He also serves as guest lecturer on communications and environment and energy issues for several academic programs, including Northwestern's Medill School for Journalism, The American University, New York University, the College of William and Mary, and Rutgers, Colorado, Florida Atlantic, and Syracuse Universities.
