Christopher Maberry is a member of Bracewell's labor and employment group. His practice focuses on representing employers in all types of litigation and labor arbitration, from single-plaintiff cases, to "bet the business" matters.
Mr. Maberry has represented a diverse range of clients, from one of the nation's largest retailers to indigent citizens of the Dallas-Fort Worth community. He has taken and defended numerous depositions, arbitrated several matters, and personally tried a number of cases. Among other matters, Mr. Maberry previously worked on a case involving the largest employment discrimination class action in U.S. history, and recently drafted a motion for summary judgment accompanied by nearly 500 pages of briefing.
Representative Matters
Successfully represented a news media company in connection with a potential securities class action lawsuit, and obtained a ruling denying class certification, which was upheld by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Successfully defended one of the nation's largest retailers against claims brought by a former employee in a high-profile employment litigation case during 2006 and 2007.
Researched and drafted a successful motion for summary judgment, which was granted by the County Court No. 5 of Dallas County, in a case where Plaintiffs sought damages of over $70 million relating to an amusement park accident.
Successfully defended a for-profit educational institution against claims asserted against it by several former students, all of whom were represented by the same attorney, in multiple arbitrations from 2007 to 2009, receiving favorable rulings from each of several different arbitrators.
