Ashlie Alaman is an associate in the firm's Environmental Strategies Group. She advises clients in the energy, waste disposal, storage and transportation sectors on the environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, including stock sales, financings, mergers and asset purchases. Her work includes conducting environmental due diligence and assessing client exposure to potential environmental liabilities. She reviews, drafts and negotiates environmental contract terms, schedules and indemnification agreements.
Ms. Alaman also counsels clients in a number of industries on environmental regulatory compliance matters arising under a variety of federal and state environmental laws. She has experience scoping and completing environmental audits, reviewing and creating environmental management systems, and handling and ensuring permit revisions and compliance. She also has assisted clients in the resolution of environmental matters and liability issues before a variety of regulatory agencies, including negotiating penalties and responding to requests for information.
Representative Matters
Handled environmental aspects of the landmark $7 billion acquisition by Apache Corporation of BP's upstream oil and gas operations, acreage and infrastructure in Western Canada, West Texas and Egypt. The acquisition was the largest oil and gas asset acquisition in U.S. history.
Handled environmental aspects of the financing of a $3 billion, 380-mile interstate natural gas pipeline through four western states.
