Bracewell Records Patent Victory for Tesco Corporation
November 30, 2010
Tesco Corporation is a global leader in the design, manufacture and service of technology-based solutions for the upstream energy industry. Tesco has been the leader in research, development and commercialization of innovative products and services to reduce drilling costs, and improve safety and efficiency. Tesco has numerous patents related to its casing and tubing handling and running operations.
In August 2008, Bracewell sued Weatherford International, Frank's Casing and Crew Rentals, National Oilwell Varco, and Offshore Energy Services for infringing two of Tesco's patents related to casing handling. According to defendants' own marketing materials, their allegedly infringing products are a "step change" in the industry and tout all of the benefits of Tesco's patented product. Tesco sought economic damages and a permanent injunction against the defendants.
The result was a favorable outcome for our client at trial in November 2010.
