Nancy Wodka To Head D.C. Office
January 5, 2010
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced today that Nancy Wodka has assumed the role of managing partner of its Washington, D.C. office, effective Jan. 1. Wodka follows Michael Pate, who served as office managing partner for 12 years.
Wodka, an energy attorney and longtime partner of the firm, has more than 25 years of experience in energy transactions and the development and financing of infrastructure projects. Wodka is currently engaged in contracts for the construction of proposed new nuclear power plants and the development of other energy projects in the U.S.
“Nancy is a great addition to our leadership team,” said firm managing partner, Mark Evans. “D.C. is a very dynamic office for our large energy practice, and her experience in the industry lends itself nicely to the firm’s ever increasing capacity in the northeast. The firm’s energy practice is wide-ranging, and the D.C. office satisfies the regulatory, environmental, government relations, and strategic communications concerns of our international client base,” added Evans.
Susan Molinari, former U.S. congresswoman and senior principal in the firm’s government relations and strategic communications practice, adds, “It’s invigorating to see women excelling in leadership roles at the firm. I’m proud to be part of a firm that fosters and develops female leaders.”
“It has been immensely satisfying to be part of the Bracewell team for the past 12 years,” said Wodka. “I look forward to guiding such a dynamic office within this growing firm,” she added.
During her career, Wodka has received notable accolades for her work, which clearly illustrate her leadership ability and talent for building consensus. In 2008-2009, she was ranked among the nation’s top Projects attorneys in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Here, she is described by clients as being able to offer "brilliant advice on any type of power project." She was engaged by Westinghouse to advise on the negotiation of contracts for the development and construction of new nuclear power plants. Her "polite brand of persuasion works brilliantly for a client where negotiations last for two years and everyone needs to keep getting along."
Additionally, Wodka has been named to: Best Lawyers in America, Project Finance Law, 2006-2010; 2006 Washington Post Magazine Washington D.C. Area's Best Lawyers, Project Finance Law; and 2004 Guide to the World's Leading Project Finance Lawyers.
