Firm Teams Up With American City Business Journals to Honor the Best Corporate Counsel in Four Major Cities
September 11, 2006
Awards ceremonies to be held in Washington, Houston, Austin and Dallas
HOUSTON (September 11, 2006) – Beginning Sept. 14, the significant contributions of in-house counsel in Washington, D.C., Houston, Austin and Dallas will be recognized through a series of “Best Corporate Counsel Awards Ceremonies,” sponsored by Bracewell & Giuliani, the American City Business Journals and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
In addition to sponsoring all four events, Bracewell & Giuliani founded the awards ceremonies in Dallas in 2004, citing a desire to honor the unsung heroes of corporate law who represent the best and brightest in the legal profession. After experiencing the success of the inaugural event, Bracewell & Giuliani launched similar awards programs with the business journals in the other cities last year.
"Working closely with general counsel every day, we understand what a demanding role they play in today's complex business environment," said Patrick Oxford, Bracewell & Giuliani managing partner. “We feel that it’s important for Bracewell to take a leadership role in planning these awards ceremonies to recognize the outstanding work of our corporate partners.”
At the 2006 Houston “Best Corporate Counsel Awards Ceremony,” attorneys will be honored in the following categories: Outstanding Solo General Counsel, Outstanding General Counsel with Attorney Staff of two to 10, Outstanding General Counsel with Attorney Staff of 11 to 30, Outstanding General Counsel with Attorney Staff of 30+, Outstanding Associate/Assistant General Counsel, Best Handling of a Specific Issue, Up-and-Comer, Champion of Diversity and Good Samaritan.
Approximately 400 attorneys and legal industry professionals in Houston and Dallas are expected to attend each ceremony. In Austin and Washington, the corporate counsel category is part of an event honoring the legal profession as a whole.
