Bracewell & Giuliani

Rob Castle Named Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year

October 31, 2007

DALLAS, TEXAS (October 31, 2007) — Bracewell & Giuliani LLP Dallas associate Robert M. Castle III,  has been named the 2007 Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year by the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), a joint program sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of Northwast Texas.

Mr Castle has been active in DVAP and providing pro bono services since graduating from SMU School of Law in 2002.  According to Mr. Castle, “providing pro bono services is a part of my daily legal practice, because I learned early on that even a few hours of time and effort on my part can make a big difference in peoples’ lives.”

Mr. Castle regularly spends several hours per month on pro bono work.  When asked how he is able to make such a commitment, he explained, “I do not view pro bono work as mandatory or as an obligation; rather I believe that attorneys have a responsibility to do pro bono work and to assist those in need as zealously and capably as we do our paying clients.  The tearful ‘thank yous,’ smiles, and heartfelt appreciation shown by DVAP clients are priceless and worth more than any monetary reward,” he added.

Mr. Castle’s practice at Bracewell & Giuliani focuses on commercial litigation, employment litigation and ERISA litigation.  As a DVAP volunteer, however, Mr. Castle has handled a wide range of cases involving divorce, adoption, wills, bills of review, and consumer protection matters.  He is also a regular at DVAP’s neighborhood clinics, where he assists with the intake of new matters.
