Two Assistant U.S. Attorneys Join the Dallas Office as Partners

DALLAS (January 14, 2008) – Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced today the expansion of its White Collar Criminal Defense and Special Investigations practice with two new appointments to the firm.  Attorneys Jeffrey J. Ansley and William C. McMurrey will join as Partners in the firm’s Dallas, Texas office. Prior to joining Bracewell & Giuliani, both were Assistant United States Attorneys in Dallas.

I am thrilled to welcome them to Bracewell & Giuliani,” said Marc L. Mukasey, head of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Special Investigations practice.

Prior to joining Bracewell & Giuliani, Mr. Ansley served as the lead prosecutor for securities fraud cases in the Fraud and Public Corruption/White Collar Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.  Prior to that, Mr. Ansley was a former civil enforcement attorney for the SEC.  He is a frequent speaker at the SEC’s Annual Southwest Securities Enforcement Conference.  Mr. Ansley received his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

Mr. McMurrey was a Trial Attorney in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office before being appointed as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in charge of healthcare and financial institution fraud prosecutions.  In 2002, he received the venerable U.S. Attorney’s Office Prosecution Award, and in 2001, he was honored with the U.S. Attorney’s Office Performance Award. In addition, Mr. McMurrey has received the Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Recognition Award (1996), the United States Assistant Attorney General Outstanding Contribution Award (1994) and the State Bar of Texas Legal Professionalism Award (1989). Mr. McMurrey has also authored legal publications and is a member of the State Bar of Texas. Mr. McMurrey is a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Law.
