Chris Borreca To Serve as President of the Education Law Association

HOUSTON (December 17, 2007) — Bracewell & Giuliani LLP Houston partner Chris Borreca has been named president of the Education Law Association for 2008.

Mr. Borreca has been active with the Education Law Association since 1996.  He has served on numerous committees including as chair of the Employment Networking Committee, member of the Technology Committee, and as chairperson for the 2005 Conference Committee.  He previously served on the board of directors from 2000-2004.  In 2005, he was elected First Vice President and assumed the role of President in November 2007.

Mr. Borreca was education director of the Center for the Retarded Inc. in Houston for nine years before becoming an attorney. He has extensive experience in special education issues, as well as contract issues, employment issues and other school law matters. A registered lobbyist, he also is active at the state and federal legislative level working on behalf of school districts and educational organizations.  Mr. Borreca also serves as an adjunct professor for education law at the University of Houston
