Tony Anikeeff to Speak on Contract Disputes Act at San Antonio Public Contract Conference
October 24, 2006
HOUSTON (Oct. 24, 2006) – Bracewell & Giuliani LLP partner and government contracts expert Anthony (Tony) Anikeeff will be speaking on the latest developments of the Contract Disputes Act at the American Bar Association Section of Contract Law meeting Nov. 3 in San Antonio.
The U.S. government is the largest purchaser of goods and services in the nation, which is accomplished through hundreds of thousands of contracts. Many commercial companies have entered the federal market over the last 10 years, but these companies have little experience addressing the government claims process when disputes arise. Mr. Anikeeff will join a panel discussing how the government contract claims resolution process has evolved and whether it has become easier or more difficult for companies.
“When working with the government, companies need to make sure they clearly understand contract issues and liabilities before getting underway,” said Mr. Anikeeff. “While the government has made strides to simplify and streamline the processes involved with contract litigation, there is still a clear benefit to having counsel that can provide depth and expertise to contract disputes."
The American Bar Association’s conference will cover the recent movement towards commercial contract techniques and how this is affecting contract procurement, performance, claims and litigation. In addition, attendees will discuss how the implications of this movement are significant for both commercial and government contract practitioners.
Mr. Anikeeff represents companies and organizations that conduct business with the federal government or with state and local governments. He has represented numerous clients in resolving matters through litigation, trial, appeal and alternative methods of dispute resolution. He also represents entities subject to various civil fraud, debarment, related investigations and proceedings. In addition, Mr. Anikeeff has testified as an expert witness and is a frequent speaker regarding government contracts and its claims resolution process.
