Mark Knowles Joins Real Estate, Energy and Finance Team in Dallas

DALLAS (March 16, 2005) Mark Knowles has joined Bracewell & Patterson L.L.P. as a partner in the Real Estate, Energy and Finance Section of its Dallas office.Knowles' practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions and borrowers in complex domestic and international financings. These financings include syndicated loan transactions, leveraged buyout and other acquisition financings, cross-border financings, asset-based loans, project financings, loan workouts, out-of-court restructurings and debtor-in-possession financings. His experience also includes private placements, derivatives and leasing transactions, and employee stock ownership plan, letter of credit and energy financings.
Knowles' expertise is expected to advance the development of Bracewell's national banking practice. He brings to the firm more than two decades of legal experience, most recently serving as partner in the Dallas office of Jones Day. His background also includes serving as assistant general counsel and senior vice president for Bank of America N.A. in Charlotte, N.C.

In 1981, Knowles received his juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law where he served as managing editor of the Kansas Law Review. In 1978, he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in history and management science from Duke University.
He is a member of the legal opinions committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and has served on the advisory board of the Center for American and International Law and the forms committee for the Loan Syndications and Trading Association Inc.
