Mr. Serikpayev's practice is focused on oil and gas industry, finance, corporate and securities, investment projects.
He has broad experience working for and with the companies engaged in exploration, production and transportation of oil and gas. Mr. Serikpayev has assisted to oil and gas industry clients to prepare, negotiate and advise on a wide variety of matters, including conducting complex due diligence review and structuring of project implementation.
Mr. Serikpayev is also skilled in arranging financing transactions for lenders, issuers and borrowers, including Loan Transactions, Specialized Financing, Project Financing and Trade Finance.
His experience in finance deals includes representation of both domestic and international lending institutions, including international finance institutions, investment banks and major energy companies.
He served as transactional counsel on a diverse range of matters related to corporate and securities market. A significant part of Mr. Serikpayev’s practice has involved the representation of a many clients seeking to structure, form, operate, and liquidate various types of partnerships and joint ventures in Kazakhstan. Mr. Serikpayev has represented for several years providers and users of funds in venture capital business.
Representative Matters
Represented the Government of Kazakhstan and National Oil Company on the Rehabilitation of Uzen Oil Field Project in 1997-1999. The works involved providing services in connection with tender process, forming and negotiating on joint venture, privatization of state assets.
Represented the Kazakhstan offshore project development company in connection with joint operating with Rosneft over second largest oil field in Caspian see Kurmangazy, involving execution of production sharing agreement, joint operating agreement and setting up of operating company. Project was implemented in 2003.
Represented the Kazakhstan offshore project development company in connection with joint operating over Tyub-Karagan oil field in the Caspian see. Project was implemented in 2004.
Represented the National Oil Company in connection with development of oil pipeline through Kazakhstan to China in 1997.
Represented Vivendi in connection with concession over the Almaty water system in 2002.
Advised to the Kazakhstan Company in its acquisition of shares in largest Kazakhstan bank in 2001.
Represented Sema Group and CAAF in number of venture capital investment projects in Kazakhstan from 1996 to 2002, involving share and interest acquisitions and withdrawal from the projects.
Represented BAE Systems in establishment of an aviation joint venture company with the Government of Kazakhstan in 2002.
