Lisa R. McBride represents public and private schools, public and private colleges, and other governmental entities in commercial disputes, labor and employment matters, student discipline hearings, special education proceedings, student privacy and constitutional law issues, appeals before the commissioner of education, and in civil rights and desegregation litigation.
Ms. McBride also counsels governmental entities concerning their obligations under the Texas Public Information Act, the Texas Open Meetings Act and the Texas Election Code. She is a frequent speaker on topics such as open government, sexual harassment, conducting meaningful employment investigations, student, parent and teacher rights, and other labor and employment issues. She also assists clients with the creation and implementation of governance, employment, business, and education policies and procedures.
Ms. McBride has extensive experience representing clients in both state and federal court and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the United States Department of Education, the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Education Agency.
