George Foote represents telecommunications, technology and defense companies in the United States and abroad. He has represented established companies, joint ventures, start-up businesses, and trade associations in the telecommunications industry. His practice includes formation of business entities, representation of clients in acquisitions, financing transactions and negotiation of contracts. His regulatory practice includes representation of telecommunications, defense and other clients before international, federal and state regulators.
Mr. Foote has represented clients in the wireless, fiber optic, broadband over powerline and wireless broadband industries. He helped organize the leading international financial settlement system and standards for mobile telecommunications and represented the industry in creation of special purpose research entities. He has represented cable, satellite, radio and television clients in transactional and regulatory matters. His work has included a full range of financing representation, from private placement and loan negotiations for young companies, through project finance counsel on major projects.
Mr. Foote also provides counsel to new media companies, software and hardware developers and a variety of web-based enterprises. He helped organize the Electronic Commerce Association, addressing privacy and standards issues for companies participating in Internet and mobile commerce.
In defense matters, Mr. Foote has represented major foreign defense contractors in acquisition of U.S. properties. He has provided counsel to foreign owners seeking approval of transactions from U.S. government administrative and political bodies reviewing national security and antitrust issues.
Mr. Foote also serves as general counsel to public charities and other non-profit organizations ranging from small family foundations to large, publicly supported national charities. He frequently writes and lectures in the U.S. and abroad on telecommunications and homeland security topics.
