Jarvis V. Hollingsworth provides legal counsel and strategic representation to public entities and officials, including municipalities, pension funds and retirement systems, educational institutions, and the directors and trustees that govern them. He advises clients on government strategies, employment contracts, grievances, employee terminations, school and college governance, coalition building, strategic communications and policy development. He provides counsel on open meetings, public information, bidding and contract matters, municipal bonds and public finance, and internal investigations. Mr. Hollingsworth represents clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.
As former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Mr. Hollingsworth also advises boards of pension systems and retirement funds in formulating investment policies for traditional and alternative assets, determining asset allocations and the hiring of investment advisors.
Mr. Hollingsworth also represents private companies in their dealings with public bodies. His practice encompasses lobbying and public policy advocacy, coalition building and strategic communications for business interests before the Texas Legislature, and other state and local agencies.
Mr. Hollingsworth maintains an active election-law practice, advising clients on compliance with state and federal campaign finance, ethics and lobby laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
Mr. Hollingsworth has extensive first- and second-chair jury and non-jury trial experience. As a general civil trial lawyer, Mr. Hollingsworth prosecuted and defended matters involving complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, as well as energy, real estate, breach of contract, class action and multi-district litigation. He also represents clients with regard to Title VII and Section 183 employment claims, general negligence, product liability, wrongful death, mass tort, premises liability, construction, toxic exposure, business torts, fraud, misrepresentation and professional negligence.
