Derrick Mitchell is a partner in the public law section and leads the firm's public finance practice group in the Houston office. In addition to his primary focus of serving as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, and underwriter's counsel, his background includes corporate and business transactions with concentration on financings, business acquisitions and dispositions.
Mr. Mitchell has served as bond counsel and disclosure counsel for tax exempt financings for cities, counties and state agencies. He also represents various national and regional investment banking firms as underwriter's counsel in bond and interest rate swap transactions. His practice emphasis includes general obligation and revenue bonds, including transportation revenue, industrial revenue, higher education, mortgage revenue, pollution control, and non-profit hospital bonds.
