In 1974, Bracewell & Giuliani was the first major, out-of-town law firm to open an office in the capital city of Austin, Texas. These include trial law and litigation; energy markets and regulation; government relations, advocacy and strategy; and environmental, labor and employment, public and school, business and corporate, tax, and intellectual property law.The Austin Summer Associate program lasts for 12 weeks. During this time, students work in two practice areas and regularly attend hearings, depositions, trials, negotiations and client meetings. While observation is an important part of the program, Summer Associates do real work, side-by-side with firm partners and associates.

Located in the state capital — and one of the most eclectic cities in Texas —the Austin office offers students direct experience with stellar clients, interesting work and an engaging team of attorneys and staff. We encourage our Summer Associates to learn as much as they can about their colleagues, the firm and the Austin area during their time with us. To accomplish this, we sponsor a number of events each summer, including welcome and farewell happy hours, a sailing regatta with the San Antonio Summer Associates, cooking classes, visits to some of Austin’s many music venues, and more.
