International Association of Defense Counsel Mid-Year Meeting
Sat, 02/17/2007 - Thu, 02/22/2007
Warren Harris will moderate the panel discussion "Effective Appellate Advocacy."
Program Description
The demonstration will include a critique from the judges and experienced appellate practitioners as to what was effective in persuading the court. The also will be a discussion of using amicus curiae briefs to persuade the court. This program will provide valuable insight to appellate specialists, trial lawyers, and in-house counsel who supervise appeals. The case chosen for the mock oral argument, Excess Underwriter v. Frank’s Casing, deals with reimbursement of settlement funds when there is later a determination of noncoverage. It was named by Mealey’s Litigation Report as one of last year’s ten most signifi cant insurance decisions in the U.S.
