Virtually everyone involved in the climate change debate seems to believe that carbon capture and storage (CCS) will be widely used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Today, however, there is not a single commercial-scale CCS operation anywhere in the U.S., and local environmental groups are opposing the few demonstration projects that have been proposed.
