The PFLAG/HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation (PHYSF) named a 2010 scholarship in honor of Houston Bracewell & Giuliani Associate Todd Amdor. The $7,500 scholarship will be awarded over three years, and was one of the largest scholarships the foundation awarded this year. The student who received the scholarship will be majoring in biochemical sciences and is hoping to become an optometrist.

President of PHYSF, Linda E. Enger, explains why the foundation chose to name a scholarship in Mr. Amdor's honor. "Todd has continually modeled the type of community service we encourage our students to give. From our very first meeting, I found Todd to be a competent attorney who carefully listens to his client, and provides sound, thoughtful advice. PHYSF has benefited from Todd's expertise on many occasions."

The PFLAG/HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation offers a scholarship program to assist worthy gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) youth in the Houston area in pursuing a college education. The scholarship program is for students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement while in high school or college. In addition to helping provide for higher education, the Foundation hopes that  scholarship recipients will be positive role models for other youth who cannot be open about their orientation, and encourages the scholarship recipients to volunteer their time with GLBT community groups.
